Why Choose a Longer Lesson?

Longer lessons provide additional time to explore repertoire, technique, musical understanding and creativity without feeling rushed.

They also provide progressively better value for lesson time.

For pupils sharing tuition within the same family, longer sessions can also provide a practical way of accommodating siblings where appropriate.

The most suitable lesson length will always depend upon the individual pupil, and this can be discussed during the introductory lesson.

Where Lessons Take Place

Lessons are available:

  • In the comfort of your own home within approximately 25 miles of Harlow, Essex
  • Online
  • At St Andrew’s CE Primary School
  • At Epping Primary School

Travel for home tuition is included within the standard 25-mile teaching radius.

What’s Included With Every Lesson

Every pupil receives individual tuition designed around their own progress and musical goals, including:

  • Structured progression
  • Strong technical foundations
  • Musical understanding, not simply memorising notes
  • Repertoire suited to the individual pupil
  • An encouraging, confidence-building approach
  • Personalised guidance
  • Support with examination preparation where appropriate
  • Opportunities to develop performance skills
  • Creative and musical development

Lessons are designed to feel positive, achievable and enjoyable, while maintaining clear musical progress.

Exam Preparation

Preparation is available for ABRSM and Trinity examinations, where appropriate to the pupil.

Examinations are taken in person at an official examination centre.

Exam preparation is never compulsory. Pupils may learn purely for enjoyment, personal development or performance.

Extended Lessons

Where additional time is required, 60-minute lessons may be extended in 15-minute increments at £13 per additional 15 minutes.

Extended sessions should be arranged in advance.

Payment Structure

Block bookings are payable in advance and secure a regular weekly lesson time.

Weekly Flexible lessons are payable one lesson in advance and reserve a consistent weekly time slot.

Advance payments reserve that teaching time exclusively and are therefore non-refundable if tuition is permanently discontinued.

Payment may be made by bank transfer or cash.

Cancellation & Rearrangement

A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellation or rearrangement.

Where sufficient notice is provided, an alternative lesson time will be offered wherever reasonably possible.

Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full.

Full lesson policies are provided upon booking.

Referral Rewards
Love your lessons? Share the experience.

If you refer a friend or family member who books an introductory lesson followed by a 5 or 10-lesson block, you will both receive a complimentary lesson.

Complimentary lessons match the regular pupil’s usual lesson duration.

Additional Musical Support

Additional professional support can be arranged where required, including:

  • Portfolio and CV preparation
  • Rehearsal or audition attendance
  • Career and progression guidance
  • Studio session support
  • Performance preparation

Additional services are charged at the applicable hourly tuition rate, with any additional travel requirements agreed in advance.

Practical Arrangements

Regular tuition is normally booked as a consistent weekly time slot.

For younger pupils receiving lessons at home, a parent or responsible adult should be present during the lesson.

For online tuition involving pupils under 18, appropriate adult supervision is required.

Pupils learning at home should have access to a suitable piano or keyboard for lessons and regular practice.
